Enable your Location services in Settings. Use Cemetery Search or the cemetery map to locate or search for the cemetery where you are photographing the headstones.

The app can upload the photos immediately over the cellular network or wait and upload once you get back to a wireless network if you have a limited data plan. To upload photos using only WiFi, adjust settings under 'Edit' on your 'Profile.'

Once on the specific cemetery page where you are photographing, tap 'Add Grave Photos.'

Tap 'Take Photo of Grave' or 'Choose Existing.' If taking multiple photos tap 'Add another photo to the same grave.' Walk along the row photographing each stone. Crop and Rotate as you're uploading.

Choose to transcribe the grave photo yourself (you'll have 7 days) or to allow the community to transcribe. Tap 'Done' when finished. The photo will upload according to your settings.

Transcribe the photos into new or onto existing memorials through the app under Transcribe in the bottom menu or on the website by clicking on Transcribe Photos (pencil/square icon) in the upper right hand corner of most pages.

You can also wait seven days and the Find a Grave community will help you transcribe the photos. Learn more at Transcribe Details.
