How do I report chalked headstone photos?
Photos of chalked, floured, shaving creamed, wire brushed, or otherwise altered headstones are forbidden and are subject to removal when reported and/or spotted by an administrator. If the chalked photos appear on memorials that you manage, you can ask to have them removed if you object to them. This removal applies to requests from immediate family members as well. In such a case, report the photo through our Contact Us page (Account Question or Support Request/Photo question or report), and include the link to the photo and reason for removal.
How do I report a photo added that violates Terms and Conditions or Community Guidelines?
If an image has been added and is in violation of Terms and Conditions or Community Guidelines, you can send the link through our Contact Us page (Account Question or Support Request/Photo question or report), including the terms or guidelines that have been violated, and request removal.
How do I remove an incorrect photo that I didn’t add?
If a photo is incorrect, please first try contacting the member that added it. Community and Contacting Members
If you don’t receive a response in a reasonable amount of time, you can request removal through our Contact Us page (Account Question or Support Request/Photo question or report), with a link to the photo. Please explain the reason for removal and we will review it.
Can I post animated GIFS, MIDIs (music files) or other non-personal images?
No. MIDI music files, animated GIF images, and other non-personal images are not allowed in the Photo section of a memorial page. Non-personal images include flowers, angels, flags, banners, coats of arms, etc. These types of images can be added when you Leave a Flower. Custom Icons and Virtual Flowers can be added to your Scrapbook.

When reporting any type of photo to Find a Grave, please only include one or two requests per email. If you have multiple to report, please space these out sending a few emails per day.
Can I add images that are created using AI sources or other digital image creation software?
No, images created using these means are not real. Please refer to Types of Photos for an explanation of each photo type. For convenience, here are links to our Terms and Conditions and Community Guidelines.

Yes, a photographer can add a watermark to their photo. Keep the watermarks small, in good taste, non-intrusive and not a distraction from the subject of the photo.
How can I ask permission to use a photo?
Photos on Find a Grave are submitted by contributors. Contact the contributor directly to request permission to use the photo. Their Profile name is found under the photo submitted. Learn more about contacting members: Community and Contacting Members
When you have permission to use a photo, we encourage you to add the source of the photo in the caption area so that there is proper credit given and people are aware of where the photo originated.
Can Find a Grave add a photo for me?
Due to the high volume of email that we receive, we are not able to assist in adding photos to Find a Grave. Register on Find a Grave in order to add a photo. Sign In, go to the memorial and select 'Add Photos.' Follow the instructions to Add a Photo.
Where is the Add Photo button?
The 'Add Photo' button appears just below the photo or place holder image. If you don’t see the 'Add Photo' button, the option to add photos for this memorial has been locked and Add Photo no longer appears. If you have a photo you'd like to add, contact us along with the memorial ID and details of the photo. If approved, we will temporarily unlock the photo section so that the photo may be added.
