What is the Find a Grave Community?
A community of members that work together, share information and help people from all over the world to find, record and present final disposition information as a virtual cemetery experience.
How do messages work?
Members can leave a message for another member by going to the member's Profile and selecting Send Message. Fill in the form and ‘Send.' The message will be added to the Messages page. Members can delete messages in their account. If a message is deleted it is also deleted on the other end of the message, sent or received.
Where can I find my messages?
Go to the dropdown menu under your profile name. Select Messages from the dropdown. You can view messages sent to you or messages you have sent. Messages are also available on your profile page.
What happens when a member deletes a message they received?
The message will no longer display for the member that received it and also does not display for the member that sent it.
How do I disable Profile messages or the email notifications about those messages?
Go to Account Settings. Select Notifications. Uncheck the ‘Enable messages…’ box and Save Changes. For email notifications about those messages uncheck the ‘Send me an email when….’ box and Save Changes.
How do I contact a member?
Go to their Profile. Select Send Message or contact them through their listed email address.
How can I reach a member that doesn’t have contact information on their Profile?
If there isn’t a contact method available, you may contact a member by selecting Suggest Edits on a memorial they manage. Scroll down and select Contact Manager. Send an email to the manager through this form. If you have reached out to a member, be sure to have a way they can respond to you.
Is there a way to search for a member's profile page?
Yes. Go to your Profile and select the Find a Member option under Following. You can search for a member by either their Public Name or Contributor ID#. If you have a Contributor ID#, you can search for memorials by Contributor ID# on our homepage.
How do I report a member as a fallen graver?
If you are sure that a member has passed on, you may contact us and include their Contributor ID# and the memorial ID# for their Find a Grave memorial. We'll review and link the two pages together, changing their account status to Fallen Graver.
