How do I process Suggested Edits?

Notification of these edits appear under Suggested Edits (pencil icon) in the upper right corner of any page. The green circle shows the number of edits. Process the update to the memorial according to your research or the research that is sent to you with the suggestion.

Through this queue, view and process Suggestions for Me or access Suggestions I’ve Sent.

You can sort and filter your suggested edits or use More options to find specific suggestions by Memorial Name or ID, Cemetery Name or ID, Suggester Name or ID, or the timeframe for when the suggestion was sent.

You can filter by: Pending/Accepted/Declined or Suggestion Type and use other sort options available on the page.

Also easily see which suggested edits are additions, changes, or removals by the suggestion including green, yellow, or red text.

To accept or decline Suggested Edits use Accept or Decline. You can Select All Edits to process them in bulk. As manager of the memorial you accept or decline the suggested edits according to your research or the research that is sent to you. After 21 days, if the edit is not declined it is automatically sent to Find a Grave's edit queue for processing.

What is the process when a suggested edit is declined?

To decline a suggested edit, choose a reason from the dropdown and include any other information for the suggester. The suggester receives the note according to their notification settings or in their Suggested Edits queue under 'Suggestions I've Sent.'

 Tips:

  • For longer text edits like bio information, inscription, and gravesite details there is a 'compare' option. This way you can easily compare what is currently there with what is suggested. This tool includes some different viewing options to help you evaluate the changes and color choices for all viewing abilities. To accept the suggestion with changes, click the 'Modify' button, edit the suggested text and click the 'Accept' button. The member that requested the suggested edit will receive notification of the modifications according to their notification settings.

  • The member sending the suggested edit can add an optional note for your review. A note can be sent for one edit by sending the edit and note separately from other edits or the same note can be attached to multiple edits. The manager will see "View note" when reviewing the suggest edits queue. Select View note to open and read it.
