Why are some non-famous memorials managed by Find a Grave?

When a non-famous memorial is managed by Find a Grave, then either the manager is a Fallen graver, a Retired graver, the manager is no longer active on the site, or the memorial is located in a Find a Grave managed account. Find a Grave manages a few member profiles, which contain memorials that were added from genealogical or military records.

What are the options for updating or managing memorials that are managed by Find a Grave?

Suggest Edits
If you have information for a non-famous memorial managed by Find a Grave, you don’t have to manage it in order to update it, you can use Suggest Edits and the memorial will be updated within minutes.

Request to Manage
These memorials now managed by Find a Grave can also easily be managed by family members, friends, or others in the Find a Grave community who are interested in updating and maintaining the memorial.

To request management, from the memorial click on Suggest Edits and then click the ‘request to manage’ button. Agree to the terms for management of the memorial and the memorial will be transferred to your account. For more details, see Request to Manage.

For example, you may find a particular member was working in a cemetery where you now find yourself doing research. However, this member is no longer active and the memorials are managed by Find a Grave. You can easily update the memorials by using Suggest Edits or from their Profile page you can view their memorials managed list and find memorials where you’d like to individually request management.

How do I transfer a memorial to Find a Grave?

If you no longer wish to manage a memorial, you can transfer it to Find a Grave, #8. Go to the memorial and scroll to the bottom. Select 'Transfer management' and then add the ID# 8 to the ID field. Click Continue and transfer management of the memorial. The memorials managed by Find a Grave #8 can be transferred individually to others who would like to manage them by clicking Suggest Edits and then the ‘request to manage’ button.
