General Information
Photos added to cemetery pages and famous memorial pages are submitted directly to Find a Grave for review. Please only submit each photo once. You will receive notification about your photo submission, generally within a few days. If accepted it will display on the specific cemetery page.
As much as possible, cemetery photos should be clear, legible, well-composed, and focus on the cemetery. Some tips:
-Ensure your lens is clean and avoid including your fingers, feet, or shadow
-Don't include people, vehicles or car parts, or other distractions from the cemetery
-Properly crop the photo if needed
-Types of photos accepted
We generally don’t accept stylized borders, decorative or additional graphics or images that are low quality, low resolution, or are too small. This includes collage photos or photos that are heavily edited. Photos in their original color format are preferred over colorized versions.
How do I add a cemetery photo?
From the cemetery page, select the arrow next to 'see all cemetery photos' and click on 'Add Cemetery Photos." Cemetery photos go through an approval process which usually takes less than a week.
What type of photo may and may not be added as a cemetery photo?
Cemetery photos can include the main gate, the cemetery sign, a panoramic view of the cemetery, and a plot map of the cemetery grounds. Please do your best to not include people, cars or car parts or other distractions from the cemetery. The focus should be on the cemetery itself. Do not submit images taken from Google Maps, Google Earth, or similar websites.
What do I do when the Add Photos button is missing?
If you believe your photo is significantly better than one of the current photos, contact us at cemetery@findagrave.com. Include the URL to the cemetery and your photo. We will review the existing cemetery photos and get back to you generally within a few days.
How do I delete a cemetery photo that I added?
If you need the photo you uploaded to a cemetery deleted, contact us through our Contact Us page (Account Question or Support Request/Photo question or report) along with your request and the link to the specific photo.
Can I add a cemetery photo to a memorial?
No, cemetery photos should be added to their specific cemetery page, not memorials. Cemetery photos can include the main gate, the cemetery sign, a panoramic view of the cemetery, and a map of the cemetery grounds.
