Getting started with the Find a Grave app
Photo request and Photo Volunteer
At Find a Grave, we provide the platform and tools that allow the community to collaborate and we’d love for you to participate. As a member, you can add memorials and manage memorials, add photos, suggest corrections and additions to existing memorials, transcribe photos that others have uploaded and much more. You can easily get started photographing headstones in cemeteries using the Find a Grave app. Here is a Quick Start Guide with simple instructions and QR codes to download the Find a Grave app.
We also have a dedicated Photo Request and Photo Volunteer program. You can sign up as a Photo Volunteer and when someone requests a photo from your area, we’ll notify you. The Tools section in our support pages details many other tools that members enjoy.
Our community is a knit collective connected across the globe. When you join us you not only join our community's mission moving forward and help others, but begin a connection with the past through photographing, transcribing headstones and researching memorials. Often from a headstone you'll be reading and recording the last tribute to a loved one, including logging the biographical and other details inscribed. It's inspiring what the community has accomplished so far and we can't wait to see what the future brings. We'd love for you to join us in our mission.
