To honor the spirit of 1776 and help everyone discover the stories of people who participated in the Revolutionary War, we’ve added a way to identify those who served with a 1776 badge. This badge will be displayed on memorials during this celebration.
We’ve added the badge to some memorials in the database already, through cross-referencing verified Revolutionary War databases at Ancestry. To search through memorials that already have the badge, check the box in Memorial Search. You can also visit the 1776 homepage to search and discover more about notable figures involved in the Revolution through virtual cemeteries.
We welcome members to add the badge on memorials for participants in the American Revolutionary War. To do this, select Edit or Suggest Edits from the memorial. Scroll down under Designations and toggle “Designate this person as an American Revolutionary War participant” and then Save Changes.
