Account Settings

To update your account settings, hover the mouse over your name in the top right corner. Select Account from the dropdown menu.


On the next page, you can update your Account Settings:

General: Edit general account settings.
Password: Change password.
Email: Change email address.
Site Sponsorship: Become a Site Sponsor, learn more.
Photo Volunteer: Select photo volunteer status. Once checked, choose Add a Cemetery to find and volunteer for cemeteries near your location.
Flower Settings: Manage scrapbook and choose default settings for virtual flowers.
Notifications: Select notifications settings for contact from Find a Grave, receiving photo requests, and messages from other members.
Site Preferences: Choose background preference for the site.
Data and Privacy: Download the data added to a favorite cemetery or virtual cemetery. Request a copy of your data. Request to close or delete your account. Learn more in the three articles linked here.

Here’s an example of one of the categories, Site Preferences. Select other categories to update any options.

 

If you update your Account Settings, be sure to Save Changes.

How do I change my password?

Go to Account Settings. Select Password. Enter your existing Password and new Password. Select Save Changes.

How do I change my email address?

Go to Account Settings. Select Email, type your new email address, enter your password and select Save Changes. 

How do I make my email address not public?

Go to your Profile. Select 'Edit Profile.' Uncheck the ‘Display my Email…’ setting and Save Changes.

How do I change my photo volunteer location?

Go to Account Settings. Select Photo Volunteer. Check the box that says, ‘I would like to be a photo volunteer.’ Select 'Add a Cemetery' and enter a location or use your location to find cemeteries. Select the cemeteries for which you would like to volunteer. Select 'Volunteer' to save your changes.

Can the cemeteries where I volunteer be viewed by others?

No, the cemeteries that you photo volunteer for are not listed anywhere publicly on the site. We use them to notify you when a photo request has been made in those cemeteries.

How do I update my notifications?

Go to Account Settings. Select ‘Notifications’ and check or uncheck boxes for relevant fields, then Save Changes. 

Select ‘Photo Volunteer’ on the left-hand side of the page. Check or uncheck boxes for relevant fields and Save Changes.

How do I enable Messages on my Profile and why don't I see the button?

Go to Account Settings, select 'Notifications' and then select the checkbox next to 'Enable Messages on my member page' in the 'New Messages' section. 'Send Message' in now available on your Profile.

Only other members can send you a message so 'Send Message' is not viewable to you.
